We work to restore the voices and stories of those who lived within West Virginia’s state hospitals, ensuring they are remembered with honesty, dignity, and truth. Our efforts include organizing records, connecting families with lost histories, advocating for those impacted by institutionalization, and linking past systems of care to present realities. WVSHI exists to make sure no one is forgotten, and that what was lost is no longer ignored.

Riverstone Community Services
Riverstone is the operational branch of WVSHI Inc., providing emergency assistance and direct support across West Virginia. As the service arm of the organization, it runs programs like the Kids Thrive Community Drive and the Essential Needs Assistance Program. We help meet basic needs by supplying food, clothing, household items, and making direct payments to utility and mental health care providers. Our focus is immediate help, delivered with respect and purpose.
